I am so happy in my role as CLVP because I get to plan ~cool~ things like Moms' Weekend, Parents' Weekend, Chapter Retreat, and Formal! My position entails all aspects of the "behind the scenes" of an event such as: contracts, communication with venue, logistics, etc. My first event was planning Moms' Weekend with the main activity being Painting with A Twist, and it was a huge success! When I was in high school, I never really thought about being in a sorority, but then, late into my senior year, my English teacher asked me about it. I figured I would give it a shot, but I really knew nothing going into formal recruitment my freshman year at UT. As I am sure you can guess, it worked out perfectly in the end. Namaste y'all! I came to India three weeks ago slightly terrified but also super excited to see what this beautiful country had to show me. I have yet to be disappointed. From the chaos that is trying to drive anywhere in a rickshaw on the crowed roads of Delhi to the beautiful lakes and temples in Udaipur I have experienced culture shock in the best way. I've learned how to match my colorful kurtas, scarfs and salwars and how to bargain with shopkeepers for the lowest possible price. Although I stick out with my blonde hair and blue eyes, the people of India have welcomed me to explore their culture and learn from them.
