Exec Exclusive: McKenna Phillips

Hi everyone!

My name is McKenna Phillips, and I currently serve as the President of Alpha Xi Delta!

When I was in high school, I never really thought about being in a sorority, but then, late into my senior year, my English teacher asked me about it. I figured I would give it a shot, but I really knew nothing going into formal recruitment my freshman year at UT. As I am sure you can guess, it worked out perfectly in the end.

In 2015 I served as the Panhellenic delegate for my chapter, and in 2016 I was honored to represent my chapter as Vice-President of Finance for University Panhellenic Council, and now I am able to spend 2017 as the President of Alpha Xi Delta. Even beyond that, I am one of the biggest proponents of Greek life you will ever meet. Beyond the roles within my chapter and UPC, I also serve on exec for Order of Omega, and you will find me at basically every philanthropy event any fraternity or sorority hosts. I have been able to do so much and find an incredible home, and I owe it all to Alpha Xi Delta. From my first semester in the chapter, I was encouraged to do and be more, and I have been granted opportunities that would not exist in any other student organization on campus.

Anyone who knows me knows that I get myself way too busy. From two majors and a minor, two jobs, volunteering, and eight student organizations (and exec for five of them), to trying to have a social life, it is a miracle that I am able to make it through. But luckily, I have my sisters around to keep me sane. From bad karaoke at Chinatown to killing myself trying to keep up with my super fit sisters at SoulCycle- I have loved every single second.

Ultimately, what truly makes a sorority unique are the people that you find within it. The girls of Alpha Xi Delta are incredibly down to earth, and they will stick by you to the end. I have been fortunate enough to spend time with girls in each chapter due to my positions within Panhellenic, and while every chapter is amazing, I cannot begin to explain how happy I am to have found my home in Alpha Xi Delta.
