Bringing home the 2022 Fall Membership Class!

The Beta Alpha chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at the University of Texas at Austin worked hard this August, set on welcoming an amazing 2022 Fall Membership Class. Work week, recruitment, and bid day consisted of bonding moments, fun activities, and opportunities to grow and celebrate our fantastic chapter.

Work Week

MC ‘19, ‘20, ‘21 and Spring ‘22 participated in nine days of recruitment preparation. While the chapter worked hard each day, we made sure to have fun! Creative themes, sweet treats, and surprise activities were great sources of entertainment.

The week kicked off with “AXiD Spirit Day,” and our members enjoyed a Blenders and Bowls bar provided by our BA parents. We dusted off the butterfly clips and low-rise jeans for day two’s Y2K theme, “MC ‘22 is so Fetch!” On day three, “It’s Sweet to be an AXiD”, sisters donned pastel clothing, accessorized with candy necklaces, and ate ice cream from Mister Softee. DivaDance Austin warmed us up for our “80s Workout” day with a boy band themed dance class. “Pool Day'' provided the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fun in the sun with each other and relax after hours of hard work. Day Six was all about sisterhood, as we wrote heartfelt letters to each other and wore our matching Alpha Xi Delta work week T-shirts. Beta Alpha did a practice recruitment party with Alpha Delta Pi on Day Seven, with the theme “Fired Up for MC ‘22,” and we enjoyed a visit from the Austin Fire Department afterwards. As Work Week wrapped up, we got patriotic with a red, white and blue theme and made final preparations for recruitment in pajamas!

Recruitment

Open house round is now completely virtual, and chapters and potential new members view each others’ videos. During Philanthropy round, we welcomed PNMs to our home and shared about our local impact organization, Helping Hand Home. The girls worked with Potential New Members to fill tote bags of school supplies, which were donated to the organization afterwards. Sisterhood round provided us with the opportunity to discuss our chapter’s incredible bond, highlighted by the testimonials sisters presented throughout the day. During Preference round we had one last opportunity to show PNMs what our sisterhood was about and looked forward to seeing them the next day. During all the in person rounds, our recruitment team really outdid themselves with gorgeous decor and florals.

Bid Day

We dressed up in our western wear for the bid day theme “Rounding Up Xi Best” and excitedly greeted the new members when they arrived home. After lots of fun photo ops, our new sisters headed to the South Congress Hotel’s rooftop pool deck. They danced to music provided by a DJ, got their pictures taken by a 360 photo booth, and enjoyed great food.
