Exec Exclusive: Katie Harkrider

Hey everyone! My name is Katie Harkrider, and I am the Public Relations Vice President for Alpha Xi Delta! My team and I work really hard to keep up relations with our chapter parents, alumnae and other Greek life organizations on campus. I love getting together with other chapters to plan exciting themed events for our new members! In addition to event planning, my team and I make sure the girls in our chapter are always being the best versions of themselves and portraying Alpha Xi Delta and Greek life in the best possible light.

So here’s a little blurb about me! I am from San Antonio, TX, but have just recently moved to Bulverde, TX. It is only about 30 minutes from SA, but boy is it a different lifestyle out there! I switched my major from psychology to public relations, and I love every single second of it! Baseball is my favorite sport, and one day I hope to work in the PR department for the Atlanta Braves, my favorite team. If I’m not writing papers for class or watching Criminal Minds on Netflix, you can definitely find me at a baseball game, or watching one from my laptop since I pay an absurd amount for MLBTV every year.

I did the UT Coordinated Admissions Program (CAP) and transferred here after spending my freshman year at UT Tyler. I met some wonderful friends there who happened to be in CAP as well, making the transition to UT a little easier. However, I still had a tough time, and after talking about transferring back home many times, my sisters here at Alpha Xi Delta convinced me to stay. Without them I would not be here, and for that I cherish every single one of them.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve on the executive committee this year! I can’t wait to see all of the exciting things that are yet to come and where this year takes my chapter.
