Q&A from Member Development VP

Why did you decide to go Greek?

UT is a huge university with a ton of students. I thought joining a sorority would help me find a smaller group to be a part of. Going Greek has helped me build some extremely strong relationships with people I never would have met if I did not go through recruitment!

How was recruitment?

There are so many emotions to describe recruitment. It can at times be stressful and confusing, but it can also be a really rewarding experience if you have the right attitude! Starting off your collegiate experience with recruitment allows you to jump right into college and meet some awesome people!

Any recruitment advice?

Don’t sweat the small stuff! Everything works out the way it should. Have fun with the process, meet new people and don’t let yourself get too worked up. At the end of the day we all just want to get to know you!

Why Alpha Xi?

From the moment I walked in the door I felt like I would be accepted, understood and appreciated by the women of Alpha Xi. Knowing that you have a group of women who will stand by you no matter what is a wonderful feeling, and I am lucky to say I have that in Alpha Xi!

Favorite memory from recruitment with Alpha Xi?

Alpha Xi Delta was the first house I visited. It’s also when I met my future big. We instantly clicked and I got to talk to her several more times throughout recruitment and on Bid Day. It was so nice to see someone I had connected with several times throughout the week and it made me look forward to walking through those double doors each time. Flash forward to the present- we’re now roommates and I couldn’t ask for a better big!

Why did you become an exec member?

I became an exec member because I wanted to help make a big difference in our chapter. I was previously our Ritual Director and I loved it! I’ve never been one to shy away from taking on more, so I ran for Member Development VP this year. I absolutely ADORE my fellow exec members and the rest of my Member Development Team. I love having the chance to give back to this chapter, especially because it has given so much to me.
